Untamed Angola: A Birder’s Hidden Paradise

After decades of isolation, Angola has emerged as one of Africa’s most exciting and least-explored birding destinations. Nearly twice the size of Texas, this breathtaking country is now stable and welcoming, boasting over 920 bird species, including 15 endemics and 28 near-endemics—many seen by only a handful of birders. This journey takes us from the towering escarpments of Tundavala to the lush Guinea forests of the north, exploring diverse habitats teeming with avian treasures. We’ll visit Kalandula Falls, Africa’s second-largest waterfall, and descend the legendary Leba Pass, a scenic mountain road with endemic-rich birding. Angola remains a hidden gem, its untouched landscapes and staggering bird diversity making it one of Africa’s most rewarding destinations. Join us for an unforgettable adventure into this untamed paradise.
